Let's get started.
We've never run the same trip twice.
Given the challenges of working in Cuba today, many of our competitors offer the same trip, over and over, visiting only those places that can easily accommodate large groups traveling by tour bus.
We believe the magic of Cuba is found in its living rooms, its back alleys, its jazz clubs. Our programs are customized exclusively for small groups because we want you to return home with new friends, great stories, and an experience that is all your own.

Understanding the US/Cuban Travel Regulations
There are several license categories under which an American can legally travel to Cuba, and we'll work with you to figure out which one makes the most sense for your trip. You can find a full list and explanation of all the license categories here. Additionally, feel free to visit our FAQ to see if we can answer your question there!
Unless you have a specific reason for travel (journalists working on a story, students pursuing an academic program, etc.) we usually recommend two general license categories for most travelers:
Support for the Cuban People
Unlike the people-to-people license, this category does not require a traveler be sponsored by an organization, nor are they required to travel with a representative. For that reason, it's becoming popular among individuals seeking a more self-directed experience. However, U.S. travelers using this license category are required to engage in a full-time schedule of activities that "enhance contact with the Cuban people, support civil society in Cuba, or promote the Cuban people's independence from Cuban authorities" and also "result in meaningful interaction with individuals in Cuba." Additionally, your program must comply with the other guidelines set out in §515.574(a) of the Code of Federal Regulations.
We'll work with you to draft an itinerary that meets these guidelines, either through programming that we offer or self-directed touring that you pursue on your own.
Educational Activities (People-to-People)
This general license category is used by American travelers who wish to visit Cuba in an effort to engage with the Cuban people in a program of cultural exchange. NOTE: As of November 2018, this license category is no longer available to individual travelers. In order to use this license, your program must be sponsored by BPH Cuba and you must be accompanied by a one of our representatives for the duration of the trip. In addition to the sponsorship requirement, your itinerary must reflect a "full-time schedule of meaningful interactions between the traveler and individuals in Cuba" and comply with the other guidelines set out in §515.565(b) of the Code of Federal Regulations.
If this license category makes sense for your trip, we'll work with you to make sure you understand all the relevant rules and will assist you in designing a program consistent with this license category.
More details on these two licenses, as well as the other available categories, can be found on our License Categories page.

Meet our team.
We've learned what's possible when Cubans and Americans work together.
BPH Cuba was founded by Brady Hiatt in June of 2015, in response to the opportunities afforded by the new regulations governing travel to Cuba for Americans. Prior to the launch of this firm, Brady worked in the field of Cuba travel for more than three years, assisting large organizations like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Princeton University, the Microsoft Alumni Association, and more than 40 other organizations acquire licenses and plan programs to Cuba. A graduate of Georgetown University and Phillips Exeter Academy, Brady has previously worked in the field of international development for a Washington, D.C.-based firm.
Brady is joined by Deborah Orta Cedeño, an experienced guide and lifelong resident of Havana. A graduate of the University of Havana's Foreign Language School, Deborah manages trip programming and logistics, and coordinates activities on the ground in Cuba. Deborah has also worked as an interpreter for three years at the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba, a Havana-based NGO dedicated to supporting young Cuban artists.
BPH Cuba was built upon the conviction that there is now a better way to offer unique travel opportunities to Cuba for Americans, and the best approach is one that's high in content and low in overhead. We will work hard to ensure that your program is not only unparalleled in its level of service and access, but also offered at a price previously unavailable to American consumers.
